Spanish B1 does not expect any previous knowledge of Spanish. It is an extended course of four hours a week (4 SWS). Grammar and vocabulary are acquired gradually, in order to have a solid basis of Spanish after one year.
To attend Spanish B2 (regular course; 2 SWS) previous basic knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary on a CEFR B1-level is required.
Groups – Requirements profile – Spanish courses
1. In the course 1.860.1.01 (AuS), resp. 2,860,1.01 (SpS) Spanish Level I (upper intermediate) Group 1, it is assumed that the students are already familiar with the entire grammar, i.e. all tenses and moods, and have a reasonable vocabulary. Building on this basis, the course tries to consolidate and expand on the already existing grammatical knowledge and the reading of texts from media and literary works.
2. In the course 1.860.1.02 (AuS), resp. 2,860,1.02 (SpS) Spanish Level I (intermediate) Group 2, it is assumed that the students already possess the necessary skills to understand the language and to make use of it. The present tense, the past tenses and the subjunctive mood are already familiar. The course begins with the consolidation of all the grammar. Oral conversation and the expansion of vocabulary are also central pillars.
3. In the course 1.860.1.03 (AuS), resp. 2,860,1.03 (SpS) Spanish Level I (lower intermediate) Group 3, the students’ knowledge of grammar extends up to and including the preterite, but they have not yet mastered it completely. Already existing knowledge is refreshed in this course and you are introduced to new items of grammar, whilst the basic vocabulary is extended.
