The Major in Economics prepares you perfectly for the Master in Economics (MEcon) and the Master in Quantitative Economics and Finance (MiQE/F) offered by the University of St.Gallen. Would you rather like to broaden your horizon and continue with a master's degree programme at a different university? With the Major in Economics, you gain a solid foundation, which also serves you well for your future studies at a different university.
Another, often used option is to gain first work experience between your bachelor and master´s degree with an internship. This helps you to decide in which area you would like to specialise in your master's degree programme.
Even a direct career entry is possible with the Major Economics. Approximately 6% of our Bachelor Graduates start their professional careers immediately after their Bachelor degree.
Master's in Economics (MEcon)
With a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of St. Gallen, you can enroll in the Master in Economics (MEcon) at the University of St. Gallen without further admission restrictions. The MEcon offers you a comprehensive economic education based on the core areas of micro- and macroeconomics as well as econometrics. The MEcon provides you with the necessary tools to analyze economic policy problems using state-of-the-art methods and to develop appropriate solution strategies. Master's in Quantiative Economics and Finance (MiQE/F)
The Master's in Quantitative Economics and Finance (MiQE/F) is also available to you with a bachelor's degree in economics. The MiQE/F offers a sound education in economics with a strong focus on quantitative methods. This enables our students to master the complexity of the global economy in a unique way.
All MiQE/F applicants are subject to a selection process, further information on the selection process and the admission requirements for the MiQE/F can be found here. Registration deadline for the MiQE/F is April 30th.

Once a year our students have the unique opportunity to meet and network with our MEcon and MiQE/F alumni at our Econ Career Day. They give insights into their career paths, experiences and entry opportunities at an Apéro with Career Speed Dating.
HSG Career & Corporate Services (CSC)
The Career & Corporate Services (CSC) division supports all students at the University of St.Gallen in their career planning. The CSC opens doors and offers platforms to bring students into contact with different employers. They accompany and advise students on their way to the right career choice and point out various perspectives with workshops, events with firms and companies as well as a job platform.
HSG Mentoring Programme
The HSG mentoring programme promotes students at the Bachelor’s , Master’s and Ph.D. level in their personal development and professional growth. The University of St.Gallen provides a suitable framework for the mentoring through connecting experienced persons (mentors) with students (mentees), and providing advisory services to all involved.
The mentoring programme is a cooperation between the University of St.Gallen and HSG Alumni to promote an exchange of knowledge between university, students and alumni. Over 80% of the mentors who transfer their knowledge and experience are alumnae and alumni of the HSG.
