After the successful completion of the Assessment Year, students can continue with the courses of their Major. The core studies of the Major in Economics are structured into three parts: Compulsory Subjects, Core Electives and Electives.
You will have to attend compulsory subjects in the core Economics, methods courses and one course in Business Administration in two semesters. Thanks to the concentration of these compulsory courses in the 3rd and 4th semesters of the degree course, you will be able to frame your 5th and 6th semesters independently and thus go on an exchange semester without any issues.
You will be able to choose your individual programme of core electives and electives from a wide range of courses. You will need to complete at least 18 ECTS credits in Economics (SEPS), 6 ECTS credits in Law (LS) and 4 ECTS credits from Business Administration (SoM, SoF). You will be free to attend additional courses in these areas. Overall the core electives and electives amount to 40 ECTS credits.
Core studies are supplemented by the Contextual Studies (24 ECTS credits). The aim is to provide you - alongside their specific subject competences - with social, historical and cultural awareness.
Furthermore, you will have to write a Bachelor’s thesis, which amounts to 16 ECTS credits.
You will have to provide evidence of English as a foreign language at Level C2 until the end of your degree course.
The Major in Economics can be studied in a flexible mixture of English and German. All students have to gain at least 9 ECTS credits in the core studies (compulsory subjects, core electives and electives) in both languages.
